B.Sc. (Hons.) Agribusiness Management – is a four year graduate programme designed to groom young men and women into professional managers for core areas of agriculture, agribusiness and allied sectors. The program in Agribusiness Management offers a combination of both Agricultural and Social Sciences required for the management of agribusiness and related organizations. Agribusiness is the business of food, agricultural commodity and fibre production and the technology necessary to change a raw material (a commodity) or an idea into a new product or business for the world's consumers. It also offers better prospects for employment in the smaller and upcoming agro-industries that may not have the resources to employ specialists in Human Resource Management, Accounting, Production and Marketing. The program offers training in the use of business, marketing, financial management, economics, and computer applications to address agribusiness management and small enterprise development in agriculture. This degree program combines knowledge of business management and agricultural systems with an understanding of how the market economy works and the appropriate role of government regulation. The program is also of interest to students seeking a career in rural enterprise development.
