An overview of the Union Budget 2017 by the participants followed a discussion on the positive and negative aspects of the budget.
Mr. Manish Dham explained the significance of the focus on infrastructure sector and banking sector, and also spoke about the effects of demonetization on bank NPAs. MMU panelists raised the point that government focus continues to be inadequate in primary education. Besides this, various other aspects of budget were discussed like the introduction of new schemes, announcement of railway budget with the union budget, investment in the rural and agricultural area, importance of investment in infrastructure, decrease in Budget Deficit, focus of Indian government on digitalization, Make in India, and Startup India.
Proceedings were summed up by Mr. Manish Dham who remarked, We should look at the macro picture of the budget instead of looking at micro picture. Its overall implementation depends upon the self-control of the citizens of the country. We should always keep a positive attitude towards the budget and should work towards some improvement in the next year’s budget by studying the negative aspect of current and previous years budget.
The session proved a great source of knowledge for all our students and gave them the necessary insights on implications of Union Budget 2017.
