In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, the Central Government, on the advice of the University Grants Commission, declared Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana – Ambala comprising ten of its teaching institutions, as “Deemed University” vide its Notification No. F.9-65/2006-U.3 (A) dated 12-6-2007.

World class infrastructure:
The Maharishi Markandeshwar Educatational Trust has the proud privilege of establishing the first self financing Engineering College, first self financing Medical College and the first Self Financing Deemed University in the state of Haryana. The campus of the University which has already developed into a small township is ideally located on an area of about 180 acres of land on the bank of Markanday River with exotic lush green surroundings of green fields, high trees and rural folk with all facilities of modern amenities on its campus.
A 3-star Hotel-cum-Resort is coming up to provide accommodation to visitors and also to act as Laboratory for the students of its Institute of Hotel Management. A centrally air-conditioned MM International School with high quality infrastructure consisting of two multi-storied teaching blocks, hostel facilities, administrative block, Library-cum-Lab complex, Sports-cum-Physical Education complex, with Gymnasium and facilities of a number of indoor as well as outdoor games, including Swimming Pool has also being started a couple of year
back.
The University has its own civic facilities like water supply, sewerage and electrification with provision of high-powered soundless generators to ensure uninterrupted electric supply in each of the buildings. Intercom system with over 750 connections, connects offices, hostels and Residential Complex in the university to facilitate free flow of communication. Transport facilities exists with a fleet of 75 Deluxe / A.C. buses for staff and students commuting from nearby areas of Ambala, Chandigarh, Jagadhri, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Patiala etc.
The campus has two shopping centers with two Banks namely Oriental Bank of Commerce and State Bank of India Branch with ATM facilities besides Post office with Speed-Post service, Petrol Outlet and shops to provide basic amenities. Two Auditoriums with seating capacity of about 1000 and 1500 persons respectively are available on the Campus. In addition, an open air theater is also available with a capacity of about 2500 person.

Orientation
All new students are
divided into batches of size of 15
students per batch & are given a
faculty mentor, where the students
can share their views, ideas, and
can give feedback on all aspects at
the University. Periodically the
feedbacks are evaluated by the
Senior staff members and the
appropriate action is initiated in
order to provide the better quality
in the education.
Residential accommodation:
University has twelve hostels, three of which are centrally air conditioned with accommodation for about 4000 students. Wholesome, well balanced, nutritious and homelike meals also help students to feel at home in the hostels. Residential sector has been provided to give accommodation to a sizeable number of faculty members and administrative staff.
Corporate interaction:
Special emphasis is laid on the interaction of students with the corporate gurus, so as to provide them an upper edge. This type of interaction helps to groom the students according to the present corporate needs.
Foreign Languages :
As the world comes to India and Indians make an impact in countries abroad, many technology professionals find that the knowledge of foreign languages gives them a definite edge over their professional counterparts. At MMU, Foreign Language Department has designed courses in French, Spanish, Japanese and German to meet global needs and turn these foreign languages into an asset for those who intend to join multinational companies and look for opportunities abroad.
The Department of Foreign Languages consists of well qualified faculty members. Some of them have been associated with countries like Germany, Japan , France etc. in their own fields of professional experience. This helps the faculty members to teach students not only the foreign language, but also about the culture of these countries.
FRENCH
French is deemed to be a global language as it is widely used across the globe. The course also enhances the scope of engineering as well as management students finding placement in companies with French collaborations in India. Students are also trained for the Level-I exam in French conducted by the French Cultural Center, New Delhi, which is internationally recognized.
SPANISH
Spanish is also widely spoken in Europe and other parts of the world, where it often is the foreign language of choice after English.
Value Added Courses :
In order to strengthen the teaching-learning ambience, and to prepare the undergraduates to meet the challenges of the global work environment, MM University has taken up several initiatives like offering value-added courses and interfacing with the industry to bridge the gap between the curriculum and the requirements of the industry.
MMU is one of the Universities in the state that has introduced value-added courses in various disciplines. The University has made forays into industry-institute interaction by signing MoUs with other renowned organizations in India.
