The syllabus is designed in such a way to make the students aware of preclinical and clinical experimental studies and provide them with advanced training in various fields of pharmacology at the molecular level, basic level and clinical level.  Excellent experiments are carried out in each of these areas, which equip the student with skills for research. M. Pharm. (Pharmacology) helps the students to understand the clinical uses of drugs in the treatment of diseases, the concept of drug action and the adverse effects of drugs.

Curriculum

1st Semester

This subject deals with various advanced analytical instrumental techniques for identification, characterization and quantification of drugs. Instruments dealt are NMR, Mass spectrometer, IR, HPLC, GC etc.

The subject is designed to strengthen the basic knowledge in the field of pharmacology and to impart recent advances in the drugs used for the treatment of various diseases. In addition, this subject helps the students to understand the concepts of drug action and mechanisms involved.

This subject is designed to impart the knowledge on preclinical evaluation of drugs and recent experimental techniques in the drug discovery and development.

The subject imparts a fundamental knowledge on the structure and functions of cellular components and help to understand the interaction of these components with drugs.

2nd Semester

The subject is designed to strengthen the basic knowledge in the field of pharmacology and to impart recent advances in the drugs used for the treatment of various diseases.

The subject imparts knowledge on the preclinical safety and toxicological evaluation of drug & new chemical entity.

The subject imparts basic knowledge of drug discovery process. This information will make the student competent in drug discovery process.

This subject will provide a value addition and current requirement for the students in clinical research and pharmacovigilance.

2nd Year

To allow the students to develop experimental skills in the core area of preclinical, clinical formulation development, phytochemical studies, analytical techniques , and quality audit of the product.

Eligibility Criteria

Duration: 2 yrs.

The candidate should have passed Bachelor in Pharmacy with a minimum least 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination

Note:

  4. There will be an annual increase of 7% in tuition fees.
  5. Students Fund for all the students is Rs.2,000/- p.a.
  6. Lifetime Alumni Membership fee is Rs. 4,000/-.
  7. Hostel & Transport Charges will be extra.
  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
