MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery | in Dental Sciences

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery deals with teaching, evaluating, carrying out research in and providing surgical healthcare services in the diagnosis and treatment of trauma, diseases, deformities and defects of the face and jaws.

Objective

  • To make the students well versed with the basic knowledge of the anatomy, physiology and biochemistry
  • To make the student well trained to perform minor oral surgical procedures including dental implants
  • To make the student well trained to handle medical emergencies arising during dental treatment
  • To make the student equipped to handle trauma in maxillofacial region.
  • To handle major oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.

Outcome

  • After completion of the course, the student must be well versed with the knowledge of Development and growth of face, teeth and jaws. He must also possess the knowledge of Age related changes and evaluation of these structures in detail.
  • The student must possess the knowledge and concepts of applied physiology including haemostasis, wound management and infection.
  • The students would be well trained in the assessment and management of:
  •         Basic and complicated Exodontia
  •         Surgical management of Impacted teeth / unerupted teeth
  •         Facial aesthetic surgery
  •         Surgical treatment of pathologies in maxillofacial region
  •         Basic and Complicated Implant surgery
  •         Periodontal Considerations for Oral Surgery
  •         Maxillofacial Trauma
  •         Dentoalveolar Surgery in Pediatric Patients
  •         Complications of Dentoalveolar Surgery
  • The students must possess the knowledge of Cleft lip and palate surgery and craniofacial surgery as well.

  4. There will be an annual increase of 7% in tuition fee.
  5. Students Fund for all the students is Rs.2,000/- p.a.

  7. Hostel & Transport Charges will be extra.
  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
