MPT Musculoskeletal (Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy)

Masters in Musculoskeletal  Physiotherapy is a two years post graduate programme, divided into four semesters in the field of Physiotherapy which mainly helps students to acquire knowledge about detailed assessment and management in patients with injury to bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and fascia.

Objective

After finishing this programme students will have a in depth knowledge regarding the assessment including radiological assessment and management of various musculoskeletal conditions like fracture, degenerative conditions, muscle strain, ligament sprain, bursitis, postoperative orthopedic rehabilitation etc.

Outcome

  •  Strengthen the basic fundamental basis of assessment and diagnosis and postulate this knowledge in clinical practice.
  •  Analyses critical evaluate the patient conditions and formulation of accurate diagnosis.
  •  Acquire a thorough understanding of on field and off field assessment criteria which can be applied in clinical practice.
  •  Formation of base of the professional practice by referral as well as first contact mode using evidence based practice.
  •  Impartation of research basis in order to validate techniques & technology in practice to physiotherapy
  •  Acquainting a student with concept of quality care at the institutional as well as the community levels.
  •  Inculcation of appropriate professional relationship in multidisciplinary set up, patient management and co partnership basis.

Curriculum

1st Semester

This subject provides basic knowledge about Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Pharmacology, focused on their clinical and applied aspects.

It will provide knowledge about human joint structure and functions, including normal joint motion kinesiology and its clinical implications.

This subject gives a detailed idea about rehabilitation research and also its implication in physiotherapy research.

This subject will provide knowledge about various assessment approaches used in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Students have to present seminars in various clinical issues

Acquire skills in physical diagnosis and management of various disorders and rotatory postings in different musculoskeletal associated OPD and IPD

2nd Semester

This subject includes various clinical aspects in medical field like radiology, pharmacology and first aid management.

This subject gives idea about various teaching methods and instruments as well as ethical aspects of physiotherapy.

This subject provides thorough understanding of presenting supporting evidences and how to conduct research. To have an understanding of model of research and biostatistics. To evaluate every procedure on the basis of evidences. To understand the data analysis procedure and their significance in research.

This subject gives knowledge about general orthopedics, also various neurovascular and soft tissue injuries and their clinical implications

To provide broad understanding of dimensions of pain, critical awareness of current pain management and an ability to apply pain management principles effectively in practices.
This subject will provide knowledge about high quality physiotherapy interventions to older adults utilizing knowledge of changes commonly associated with ageing.

Students have to present seminars in various clinical issues

Acquire skills in physical diagnosis and management of various disorders and rotatory postings in different musculoskeletal associated OPD and IPD

Every student has to submit one research project mandatorily before final semester.

3rd Semester

This subject gives detailed idea about bodies physiological changes during exercise, also effect of various climates during exercises. This subject is Important because after successful completion of this subject student can efficiently prescribe exercise as well as nutritional aspects of the patients.

This subject gives detailed idea about various orthosis and prosthesis and their construction and prescription. It also gives students detailed knowledge about various rehabilitation acts.

This subject covers all the fractures of upper limb and lower limb and its clinical feature assessment and management.

Students have to present seminars in various clinical issues

Acquire skills in physical diagnosis and management of various disorders and rotatory postings in different musculoskeletal associated OPD and IPD

Every student has to submit one research project mandatorily before final semester

4th Semester

This subject gives detailed idea about bodies physiological changes during exercise, also effect of various climates during exercises. This subject is Important because after successful completion of this subject student can efficiently prescribe exercise as well as nutritional aspects of the patients.

This subject gives detailed idea about various manual therapy approaches as well as various electrotherapy equipments.
This subject gives detailed idea about various spinal biomechanics, pathomechanics and its clinical importance also it gives a focused idea about various spinal conditions and their assessment and management.

This subject include practical approaches of all four specialty subjects.

All the student have to submit one research project mandatorily before final semester examination.

This subject will strengthen the fundamental basis of autonomous practice in Physiotherapy and postulate this knowledge in clinical practice.
This subject will provide knowledge about high quality physiotherapy interventions to women and administer an evidence based plan of treatment.

Students have to present seminars in various clinical issues

Acquire skills in physical diagnosis and management of various disorders and rotatory postings in different musculoskeletal associated IPD and IPD

Eligibility
The candidates should have passed Bachelor of Physiotherapy on full time basis from any recognized University.

Eligibility (Duration: 2 Years)

MPT (Master of Physiotherapy) in Musculoskeletal

The candidates should have passed Bachelor of Physiotherapy with at least 50% marks in aggregate on full time basis from any recognized University.

  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
