A well-planned course on Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy aims to develop as strong academic base in the students and developing practical problem-solving skills related to agriculture in the students. The vision behind the course is to create professionals capable enough to use research methods and apply analytical thinking skills to work for betterment of agriculture and the people thereof.

Course Objective

  • To impart theoretical as well as practical knowledge of Agriculture and related concepts
  • To ensure in-depth study of economic aspects of agriculture and devise ways/methods to increase the farm yield and income of farmers
  • To equip the students with skills and innovative ideas that enables them to work for strengthening agro-economic system
  • To create specialized professionals capable of working in the field of Agrarian economics and Agro-marketing
  • To encourage research and innovation in the field of agriculture

Course Outcome

  • Gaining specific knowledge of various branches specialized to their studies.
  • Acquiring detailed knowledge on the subject to improve the farmers’ condition by working on agro-specific issues
  • Inculcating insightful understanding of cultivation practices, Soil, fertilizers, livestock’s insect pest, economic associated with farming enterprises
  • Gaining confidence in managing huge agribusinesses like grain assembling and food processing factories
  • Gaining a desire to contribute to agricultural research and innovating best agricultural and farm management practices


1st Semester ( Major Subject )

Students will be able to know about the different growth parameters of crop in different ecological zones of India.

The students will learn about soil fertility and productivity and their management. Manures and their preparation.

To study the nature, propagation and survival of different weed under natural environmental conditions.

To teach the principles of water management and practices to enhance the water productivity.

The students will know about Origin and history of crops and varieties of crops and their cultivation requirements.

The students will learn about different tests associated with statistical analysis and how to use them in analysing research.

2nd Semester ( Major Subject )

To study about adaptation, distribution, varietal improvement, agro-techniques and quality aspects

The student will be able to explain the major aspects of cropping systems and farming systems.

Develop an understanding of the historical, biological and ecological basis for Organic farming including crop and livestock management.

2nd Semester ( Minor Subject )

The subject helps the students to get basic know how of remote sensing & GIS & technique along with soil identification & other parameters.

To impart knowledge of fertilizers and manures as sources of plant nutrients and apprise about the integrated approach of plant nutrition

To aware and spread knowledge about facts responsible to pollute environment and factors being the cause of disasters on earth

3rd Semester

Build confidence and knowledge about research among students

4th Semester

Thesis will be submitted by students

Eligibility Criteria

Duration: 2 yrs.

The candidate should have passed B. Sc. Agriculture from a recognized university with 60% or equivalent marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates).

  1. The Fee will have to be deposited at the time of Counselling.
  2. University Charges will be extra as per University norms.
  3. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  4. There will be an annual increase of 7% in tuition fee.
  5. Students Fund for all the students is Rs.2,000/- p.a.
  6. Life time Alumni Membership fee is Rs. 4,000/-.
  7. Hostel & Transport Charges will be extra.
  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
