MOUs with two prestigious professional organizations namely Institute of Civil Engineering (India) and M/sMotia Developer Pvt.Ltd
Various projects have been submitted to National and International agencies:
1.Soil Moisture Estimation Using Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) data for desert and semi-arid areas of Uzbekistan (India-Uzbekistan Programme of Co-Operation in Science &Technology, DST, India)
The aim of this project is to estimate and map soil moisture distribution using C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for developing a territorial national geographical database. The Kyzyl-Kum desert and the semi-arid territory of the Tashkent region in Uzbekistan were chosen as the research areas. A new generation SAR satellite Sentinel-1A, hybrid polarimetric satellite SAR RISAT-I and optical satellite Landsat-8 data will be use to retrieve soil moisture map. The effects of soil moisture and local incidence angle on backscattering coefficient will be analyze, and then a multiple regression analysis will perform to generate an empirical model. The model will evaluate using developed by Indian scientists’ models, statistical metrics for satisfying outcomes to validate results and map soil moisture content. Our approach is to organize and visualize regional soil moisture data in a National Geographic Information system (NGIS) developed in Uzbekistan for the efficient use of land and water resources.
2.Web-GIS framework for smart farming (DST, Haryana)
This major objective of this project is to measure soil property of the soil sample collected from the study area (Haryana and Punjab states) in laboratory as well as measuring their reflectance by using a spectrometer (350-2500 nm range) and then relating laboratory finding with that to space based remote sensing data of the study area using various Modeling techniques: statistical and machine learning. Remote sensing data will also use for mapping of crop yield and the study will also identify potential variables as well as analyze the change in crop yield production with varying soil contents. This project also includes development of GIS framework for smart farming so that farmer can use the provided information for better planning.
