The department is one of the first departments set up in MMDU in the year 1995 and rightly claims to be a center of excellence in the field of electrical engineering by producing professionals who excel in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Management.
The department runs UG and Ph.D. programs to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of electrical engineering.
Electrical Engineering graduates have a wealth of favorable job opportunities. They can create a flourishing career in aerospace, power generation, materials and metals, oil and gas, defence, telecoms, railways, electronics, automotive or marine industry. There are ample job opportunities in pharmaceuticals, construction, and utility sector as well.
Students can handle various professional assignments as Junior Engineer, Embedded Engineers and Power System Engineers in electrical and IT industry. Government, semi-government and private sectors like IOCL, BPCL, IPCL, SAIL, NTPC, etc. have very good openings for Electrical Engineers. Students can also work in fields like Engineering and Business consulting firms or with manufacturers of electronics, industrial machinery, scientific instruments, computer, and office equipment.
Those who are academically-oriented can also take up teaching and research and development in one of the many Engineering Colleges in India or abroad.
There are varieties of companies overseas looking for highly skilled and knowledgeable electrical engineers. As these companies have their firms and factories outside India, they look for candidates who can relocate them abroad for a reputed job with a handsome package. Candidates having great knowledge of control and power systems are preferred by these companies situated in Japan, Germany, Korea, Australia, the USA, etc.
There are options for studying abroad to pursue an MBA, M. Tech, MS, etc. after completing B. Tech.
No, there is no one -year diploma or certificate course offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering.
In addition to the core curriculum, personality development classes are also conducted in the Department of Electrical Engineering for improving communication skills, reasoning, vocabulary, analytical skills, and mathematical tools for the enhancement of a student to survive in a global society.
Participation in technical events like elocution, quiz, debate, sports, and cultural activities organized by the departmental clubs and societies help the students in their holistic development.
Campus placement is a regular feature of MM Engineering College. Our placement department is always ready to guide students about their future. The placement department provides opportunities for the students to be a part of the public as well as private sectors. Also, the students in our department can apply in the IT sector as well.
The student of our department got a job in merchant navy company ‘Anglo-Eastern’ where the pay package is more than INR 10 Lakhs p.a. after the training period.
Yes, the Department of Electrical Engineering arranges for training and internship sessions with industries for enhancing the practical skills among the students.
The Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) is our internship program designed to give students first-hand experience of the work environment. They will have the opportunity to apply knowledge, skill sets, and techniques that they have gained from the classroom in real-life situations. Summer training, full-term optional/compulsory internships, ‘On-the-job’ training, study tours, and skill enhancement events and workshops are extensively integrated into the MMDU curriculum.
Yes, the Department of Electrical Engineering runs the mentoring programme for the students. In the mentorship program, faculty acts as mentors and students as mentees. The programme is conducted at all levels of study. Student mentoring has proven to improve student retention, boost job placement rates, and increase alumni engagement. Both Advanced and Weak learners are identified based on their performance in Academic, Sports, Cultural & other Co-curricular activities.
