When it comes to choosing the right graduation programme or course in the field of Mathematics, MMEC stands as an undisputed choice for numerous students across India. The department of Mathematics came into existence in 2008 to provide quality education in the field of Mathematics. Presently, the Department offers Ph.D. Programme, M.Sc. (Mathematics) and B.Sc. (Mathematics Hons.). The Department has credit of publication of more than 550 papers in National and International journals of repute and 23 Books. The Department has awarded Ph.D degree to 74 candidates. The Department is committed to foster creative and innovative research in various fields of Mathematics. Students also get ample exposure through industry-academia interaction and research projects and numerous training sessions.

The major thrust area of the Department includes  Scheduling Theory, Queueing Theory, Fixed Point Theory, Fluid Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Information Theory, Non Linear Partial Differential Equations etc.

The aim of the lab is to give the knowledge to students how to write and edit the technical documents using a language called latex.

This laboratory makes the students to work and gain knowledge about the different types of tools in Mathematics.


Multimedia language lab

The basic purpose of the lab is to provide the students a platform to enhance English language skills, communication skills and to practice soft skills . the main aim is to equip the students with good communication skills.

The Department of Mathematics and Humanities offers UG (B.Sc. Hons) and PG (M.Sc.) courses in Mathematics along with a doctoral degree in the subject of Mathematics and English.

Career prospects in India after completing B.Sc (Hons.) Mathematics are truly bright. The student can choose to pursue the work profile of an Acoustic consultant, Data analyst, or Data scientist. Some students also prefer to pursue Actuary and Astronomy post-B. Sc or M.Sc Mathematics degree. The prospective scholar can also get employment in an Institute/university and he/she can also go for Ph.D. or post-doctoral research.

Similarly, after doing adegree in English, a student can pursue a writing career in newspapers, blogs, and advertising agencies or with business organizations. MA English is your pathway to take up the teaching profession in this language.

Both Mathematics and English are high demand subjects abroad. Mathematics students can explore work opportunities abroad in the field of Accountancy & Professional Service, Actuarial Science, Banking, Investment, and Computing & IT. English students can choose to work with newspapers, media houses, book publishing, article writing business, online writing portals, and also go ahead for business writing field. There is no dearth of jobs abroad if you have a BA (English Hons.) or MA (English) degree.

Career prospects of students going abroad after completing doctoral courses in Mathematics and English are also very bright. The scholar can apply for fellowships/Post-doctorate in abroad to chalk out a brilliant career in these subjects.

Students in the Department of Mathematics and Humanities are given special focus in the aspects of personality development and confidence building. These sessions are organized from time to time to enhance their personality.

Our student received a package of INR 8 Lac per annum recently.

Yes, we make arrangements for the training and internship of our students. We do our best to give corporate exposure to the young ones so that they are ready for the job.

Yes, we are currently running a special mentoring programme to enhance the employability quotient of our youth.

The Department offers financial and infrastructural support to bright students for taking part in conferences/seminars. They are also encouraged to take up some additional value added courses as well.

Yes, the Department organizes workshops and training sessions. We organize workshops on communication skills and corporate grooming for our students.

Numerous cultural, sports, literary activity, etc. are being held in the Department. MMDU believes in holistic education and therefore many extracurricular activities are being organized every week.

The moment a student gets admitted to a course in the department he/she can access the departmental library and also the main library on the campus.

The students may get an appointment in higher education colleges/universities for Research Project sponsored by any Government/Non-Government Agency/ Institute.
