Established in the year 2008, the Department of Physics, MM(DU) strives to enrich the workforce with quality education in sync with industry needs. The main aim of the department is to impart a thorough knowledge in the basic fundamental principles of several branches of physics and guide the students to apply the same in the technological world. The Department also offers research in within the general areas of Radiation physics, Material science, computational physics, Nanoscience Semiconductor physics devices, Astrophysics and Planetary Science. The exceptional research expertise of our faculty provides students a wide variety of research experiences. The department caters to a huge range of core and elective courses in the B.Sc. Physics (Hons.)

MMDU is the leading university of North India established in 2001 to impart internationally accepted education and training in all science and technology programs. The Department of Science in MMDU offers B.Sc.
B.Sc. Physics (Hons) is one of the most preferred undergraduate program for Science students who wish to gain expert level knowledge in the field of physics.
The Department of Physics offers two year M.Sc. Physics program under semester system. The curriculum is enriched with the core subjects of Physics & allied areas. The students are also encouraged to carry out research projects in their final semester.

4 | UG Lab-4 | UG lab-4 is well equipped with experiments related with optics and statistical physics. This lab is helpful for the students to understand the basic principles involved in interference, diffraction and polarization and also some basic principles of statistical physics. |

The Department of Physics offers B.Sc. Physics (Hons.), M.Sc. Physics and Ph.D. Physics degree.In addition to this Department also caters to the B.Tech, B.Sc. (Non-Medical) and various paramedical programs.
After Completing B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) or M.Sc. Physics, students get ample career opportunities both in public as well as private sector enterprises. They can apply for all government jobs that require graduation as the Basic Qualification. There are lucrative work and growth opportunities in governmental organizations like DRDO, VSSC, ISRO, SSPL, etc. after completing B.Sc. Physics (Hons.). Our students get handpicked by top companies in Education, Research, IT Sector, Laboratories and Institutes, Power-generation, Civil Aviation, Construction, Pyrotechnics Manufacturing, and Defence Services.
Some of our students are pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics. They are eligible to work as Assistant professor in Higher Educational institutes.
There are extensive opportunities abroad for B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) or M.Sc. Physics students to work in Manufacturing, Electronics, IT-based companies. Students can apply for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Higher Education in Physics helps the candidate to get into high Designated Jobs. If a student would like to pursue higher education after B.Sc. Physics(Hons.), then he/she can opt following Master courses in Physics including Applied Physics, Biophysics, Chemical Thermodynamics, Nuclear Physics, Kinematics, Physics, and Thin Films. Students can also apply for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
No, currently we do not offer any one-year diploma or certificate courses.
The personality development classes for the students are taken by the experts. We have a Physics society in the Department which organizes various academic, cultural, and sports events to enhance the students’ skills.
Most of M.Sc. and B.Sc. students usually get placed in Teaching Jobs in the Government sector, and in the reputed private institutes. In addition to this, our students are also eligible as analysts and executives in top companies like Infosys, L& T, Wipro, British Telecom, BhilwaraTechnologies Ltd, etc.
Since most of the students get employment in the education sector as a Teacher their approximate initial package is INR 4-6 lakh per annum.
Department of Physics provides a platform to brilliant and innovation-minded students to attend and participate in the research activities i.e. conferences, Seminars, Quizzes in the institute, and outside the institute.
Yes, we organize workshops and training sessions for students.
Extracurricular activities like Quiz’s competitions, cultural activities, sports events are organized by the Department of Physics from time to time.
After getting admission to the MMDU’s Course, Login ID and password are provided to get access to the University Portal and within a week he/she gets the University ID card which provides the membership of MMDU’s Main Library.
It is a routine feature of Welcome or Fresher’s party for the new students joining the Department. In addition to this Farewell party is also arranged for the outgoing batch.
