3rd International Day of Yoga was celebrated in Maharishi Markandeshwar University on 21st June, 2017 with great enthusiasm. A special yoga session was organized for the students along with the faculty in the sports complex early morning. The three generations participated in the activities zealously. Mr. Gaurav from Ministry of Ayush taught them beneficial yoga exercises following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) of Ministry of Ayush. More than 500 students and faculty members participated in various aasnas. The program was conducted from 07:00 – 08:00 am. Participants were also apprised of the benefits of each Yoga Aasna.
It was followed by a motivational talk on Yoga: A Stress Buster by Mr. Santosh, a renowned international speaker for Youth Empowerment and Skills organization. During his talk, he encouraged the students to adopt yoga in their routine life for their professional as well as personal growth. He also gave lessons on practical aasnas and practiced them among the students. He told them the secret of real happiness can be attained through meditation. More than 300 students participated in the seminar.
Another motivational talk on Yoga: Way of Life was delivered by the same resource person in M.M. College of Nursing where he motivated the nursing students to take part in the activities related to yoga to lead a blissful life. Around 200 nursing students learnt how to control their mind and the ways to improve concentration.
Various competitions like poster making and essay writing were also organized for the students. The students made posters of many Yoga Gurus.
