The City Beautiful, Chandigarh is one of the biggest attractions for the youth. The city is full of adventure and fun activities of all types. Cosmopolitan people can enjoy the malls and cafe culture of the city while the nature-lovers can enjoy the sunshine in winters and breezy pleasant weather of summers in the beautiful gardens and Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh. Those who wish to have some fun near Chandigarh can visit the Fun City, Amusment Park Chandigarh which is located at the outskirts of Chandigarh. Chandigarh is 75 kms away from Mullana and it takes nearly one and a half hour to reach Fun City. Rishikesh is one of the famous tourist and spiritual destinations in the Himalayan range of India. It is the place with divine vibes attracting large number of foreign tourists who come here for yoga practice, meditations and learning Ayurveda. A trip to Rishikesh is incomplete without experiencing the Ganga white water rafting. Adventure lovers can also enjoy bungee jumping in Rishikesh which is quite a craze for the youth these days.
Shimla is 165 kms away from Mullana and you can reach this queen of hills either by taking a toy train from Kalka or via Road in nearly 4 hours. Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh has colonial charms and would remind you of Europe owing to its British style architecture. You can enjoy a walk on the Mall Road or play golf in Naldehra, or embark on an evening trip to admire the beauty of Shimla Church, Ridge and other colonial buildings and famous hotels.
Mussoorie is nearly 160 kms away from Mullana and you can reach this beautiful Himalayan hill station in 4 hours when going by your own vehicle.
Mussoorie has many tourist spots to engage wandering souls. You can pay a half day trip to Kempty Fall, go for a trekking trip to Cloud’s End or take ropeway trip to Gun Hill. Mussoorie also has a few options for those who want to indulge in adventure sports – you can go for paragliding and trekking in this hill station.
A perfect weekend trip can be planned to Renuka Hills to admire the beauty of Renuka Ji Lake which is an offbeat religious as well as aesthetic destination in Himachal Pradesh. The weather is pleasant here all the year round. Renuka Ji is definitely once a lifetime visit for all those who are in love with Nature. And it is just 90 kms away from Mullana and you can reach the lake in just two and half hours drive.
Sahastra Dhara in Dehradun is a beautiful water body that attracts millions of tourists every year. It is a very popular attraction in the state of Uttarakhand. Sahastra Dhara is in the picturesque town of Dehradun which offers many adventure and fun activities. Dehradun is 137 kms away from MM(DU), Mullana and you can reach this colonial town in Uttarakhand in nearly 3-hours drive.
Kurukshetra is one of the most popular spiritual destinations in North India. It is the land where famous iconic war Mahabharata was fought. You can go for a holy dip in Brahma Sarovar, check out the Sri Krishna museum and see the Jyotisar Birthplace of Bhagwad Gita. There is a Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre for the curious minds. Kurukshetra also has Sheikh Chehli Mausoleum and Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium. 54 kms away from Mullana. The Holy Place is only 30 minutes drive from the University Campus.
To help you adapt to the new surrounding away from your home easily, the University has appointed a study advisor or mentor for students coming from abroad. In case you require assistance at the campus during your period of acclimatization at the University Campus, you should immediately contact your study advisor or mentor.
Try to reach on time for your orientation and enrolment week so that you familiarize yourself with the city, the transport system, your institute and open your bank accounts etc. Observe all security measures as you would do in your own country.
