While the whole world has shifted to online mode for learning, work and meetings; the academic institutions are also becoming more and more techsavvy holding classes and webinars online. MM(DU), one of the leading universities of North India, has set an example for all other academic institutions to follow. The university held its annual youth festival, UniversuMM in online mode from19th – 21st November , 2020.
The youth festival had numerous competitions events in e-mode in Music, Dance, Theatre, Fine Arts, Fashion, Law, Kaleidoscope, Business, Health, Literary and Technical category. Participation for all the events and competitions were totally free. Nearly 1000 students from 72 educational institutions affiliated to 32 Universities participated in different contests and events. Out of these, 29 Educational Institutes affiliated to 11 Universities made to the points table. MM College of Nursing, Mullana-Ambala topped the points table, with 52 Points.
Amongst the external Institutions, PT. JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, FARIDABAD affiliated to Maharishi Dayanad University, Rohtak topped the list, while LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY, PHAGWARA, PUNJAB & SHRI RAM INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT, DEHRADUN affiliated to Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University shared the second spot. CHANDIGARH GROUP OF COLLEGES LANDRAN(CGC) affiliated to I.K. GUJRAL PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, JALANDHAR, IHM HAMIRPUR affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and USM, KURUKSHETRA UNIVERSITY jointly ranked third.
The added attraction of the entire event was special sessions and LIVE performances by famous entertainment personalities. Youth Celebrity Performer Shiva Chaudhary (Indian Idol Fame) and Band performed LIVE on their official Facebook page of MM(DU) on 20th November 2020. The melodious voice of budding singer Amit Gupta (‘Radhe Radhe’ fame fromMovie ‘Dream Girl’&‘Baba Layenge Kranti’ fame from ‘Ashram’) on the official MM(DU) Facebookpage mesmerized millions on 21st November.
The vibrant performance of these stars coupled with exclusive culinary session by Vandana Gupta, popular Chef ,added to the zing of the event. The audience who joined her LIVE session on Facebook learnt the secret recipes of culinary delights. There was an informative session on how to use ‘social media for talent promotion’ by Dr Anu Dua Sehgal, well-renowned social media consultant from North India.
While, the event was in online mode there was no reduction in the sheen of the event with the achievers as well as Participants being certified with National Level Inter-University Certification of Merit and Participation respectively. The major achievement of the fest was that the fest connected with about 2 lac viewers through our social media platformsdespitebeing an online event.
