Acid Attack is a grave violation of rights of security and peaceful living of ordinary citizens and is a common way of transforming of hidden hatred and feeling of revenge into forever physical as well as psychological scars on the victims particularly women and children by the preparators. This is not limited to India or south Asian countries but is also prevalent in sub Saharan Africa Middle east, Caribbean Islands and other regions .In the recent decade, there is a sharp rise in incidents of acid attacks on women only. This article attempts to address the issue of acid attack and explores the various provisions provided to protect women in Indian legal system. Thus also highlights the role played by judiciary at the forefront to safe guard the rights of victims of acid attacks.
