MDS in Oral Pathology | in Dental Sciences

Department is situated on ground level of the Dental College which helps it to work in close association with departments of Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery for patient’s diagnosis and treatment planning. It imparts education and subject expertise on dental anatomy and oral histology as well as oral pathology to under-graduates and post- graduates through first three years of their training for BDS degree and also higher education to budding oral pathologists.


  • To diagnose and report histopathology from tissue samples.
  • To analyze hematological samples for treatment purposes.
  • Study of oral cytology for adjunctive diagnostic purposes.
  • Study and isolate oral microflora for diagnostic purposes.
  • Working knowledge of higher molecular techniques like- Immunohistochemistry.


  • Train a postgraduate student towards diagnostic histopathology, cytopathology, microbiology and basic hematology exercises.
  • Incorporation of basic fundamentals of research towards research promotion.
  • Promoting clinical practice of Oral pathology.


This course provides detailed study of etiology, pathogenesis, Histopathology and clinical correlation in order to provide knowledge and expertise to trainee BDS and MDS student.

This course provides insight into basic oral and para oral structures their development, histology and clinical considerations to under-graduates and post- graduates.

  1. The Fee will have to be deposited at the time of Counselling.
  2. University Charges will be extra as per University norms.
  3. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  4. There will be an annual increase of 7% in tuition fee.
  5. Students Fund for all the students is Rs.2,000/- p.a.
  6. Life time Alumni Membership fee is Rs. 4,000/-.
  7. Hostel & Transport Charges will be extra.
  8. Students who wish to leave the Institute mid-stream, will have to deposit the fee for the remaining period of the course as per judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka & PA lnamdar case.
