Dental hygienists course is a two year comprehensive course with a great future prospective for the candidate. The candidate will work in collaboration with Dental surgeons in their operatories. They typically will spend more time with patients as compared to the dentist. Besides performing a variety of routine dental treatments like fluoridation of teeth, shooting radiographs, Oral prophylaxis etc, they help educate the patients towards the dental diseases and their possible treatment modalities. Like the other healthcare professionals, dental hygienists have to get licensed in their respective regional body after the completion of their course.

Curriculum

1st Year

Deals with the knowledge of anatomical structures of the body as well as dental tissues including the tooth.

This subject aims to provide thestudent a comprehensive knowledge of the normal physiological and biochemical functions of different organ systems, tissues and cells of the body.

The study of this subject in helps to understand rational and scientific basis of drugs and therapeutics pertinent with dentistry as well as other diseases and conditions which may have dental implications and interactions.

The understanding and thorough knowledge of this subject is utmost important as with this the student will be able to understand the pathological and microbial basis of disease processes. This will result in morphological and functional alterations in cells, tissues and organs.

It is the speciality which deals with the understanding and basic knowledge of exposing the patient to different king of dental radiographs and their pertinent interpretation.

Imparts the knowledge of importance of nutrition in everyday life and its effects on health during deficiency disorders.

Imparts the knowledge and importance of oral and para-oral hygiene and its effects. The students will be well versed with the methods of oral prophylaxis and care.

Basic applications and usage of computers will be imparted for technical enhancement of the students
2nd Year

Automation in the tourism industry, Importance of Information Technology in Tourism, Introduction to CRS, Ticketing process and Billing and settlement plan, A short introduction to Standard Traffic Documents (STD)

It  deals with preventing disease, prolonging life & promoting physical & mental efficiency through organized community efforts for the sanitation of the environment, the control of communicable infections and imparting education to the society for personal hygiene.

Introduction and knowledge of basic ethics in dental practice.

This science makes the student aware of different type of dental materials used in the treatment along with continued research has led to new material systems. The vast knowledge will help the student to practice dentistry with utmost skills.

Eligibility (Duration: 2 Years)

Diploma Course Dental Hygienists

Candidate should be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission or within 3months of it and should be medically fit to pursue the course. ii. The candidate must have passed 10+2 or two years intermediate or equivalent course thereof with Science subjects (i.e.) Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized Indian University or PreUniversity/Intermediate Board
