This paper introduces to the reader the concept of bicriteria in n jobs m machines flow shop scheduling problem under a specified rental policy in which processing time of machines are associated with probabilities with an objective to minimize the rental cost of the machines taken on rent under a specified rental policy with minimum makespan. Further the jobs are attached with weights to indicate their relative importance and job block criteria is taken into account. A heuristic algorithm to find the best possible sequence optimizing both the criteria’s simultaneously is discussed. A numerical illustration is given to demonstrate the computational efficiency of proposed algorithm as a valuable analytical tool for the researchers.
