Chickpea is one of the world rsquo s most important but less studied leguminous food crops It is a crop of both tropical and temperate regions With the increasing use of recombinant DNA techniques in plant research the need of pure DNA has become a major concern Thus DNA extraction remains the most significant factor for large scale applications in plant breeding and germplasm characterization We report in the current study a low cost approach to obtain high quality DNA from young leaves of chickpea
