Prison and Jail Administration is more than its title implies. A wealth of information and a variety of perspectives and analytical strategies inform important issues currently facing criminal justice- and, therefore the entire society : the history of incarceration and of punishment , punishment models, prison and jail diversity and governance; functional organizational, management, and staff issues ; special categories of inmates and programs designed for them; common (and not so common ) emergencies and their handling; and a variety of legal and social issues related to correctional philosophy and practice.
