The present paper studies job block concept in n×2 stage flow shop scheduling problem to minimize the rental cost. The objective of the study is to get an optimal sequence of jobs in order to minimize the rental cost of machines including breakdown interval and equivalent job block criteria. The algorithm is made clear by numerical illustration.
