India is a multicultural and multilingual land, where there are respect and honor for every custom, religion, and tradition, and we live by the motto “atithi devo bhawa”. To personify the same and to celebrate cultural diversity, Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana, Ambala hosted “VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBKAM”: MM(DU)’s own International Fiesta on 1st April 2019.
It was one extraordinary celebration wherein 9 countries from across the globe came forward to showcase their culture through exhibition, music, and dance. Some of the foreign Nations participating in the festival were Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania & Madagascar.
The vivid Indian cultural diversity was also showcased on the same platform with cultural exhibitions from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, etc.
The event began with a vibrant procession in which over 1000 students dressed in their state/country/ folk attires danced and celebrated their culture. Honorable Chancellor, MM(DU), Shri Tarsem Garg was the Chief Guest for the procession.
After the procession, the 4500 square feet widespread cultural exhibition was inaugurated by the Treasurer of MM trust, Dr. Vishal Garg. The cultural exhibition showcased the key features of each country & states participating through models, miniature, arts, crafts, and handicraft works.
The event then has a music show in which 10 teams showcased their own traditional music. It was followed by a Cultural Parade on the theme, “My Culture, My Pride” in which over 50 students from various culture walked the ramp dressed in their state dress, stealing the show.
The event then closed with the Dance show which had 19 group dances performed by 140+ students of which there were 13 unique dance forms.
